Kinky Muppet are Katrin Plavčak on guitar and vocals, Nicholas Hoffman on bass, bariton guitar and vocals and Oliver Stotz on drums & electronics. Formed in 2018, Kinky Muppet is an amalgam of disparate personalities and musical styles. Comprised of musician Oliver Stotz, painter Katrin Plavčak and performance artist Nicholas Hoffman; the group approaches the form of the rock n roll trio by playfully acknowledging its lack as well as its potential in the 21st century. Captain Beefheart-esque absurdity gives way to earnest reflections on everyday life as riffs, hooks and grooves mingle with searing feedback, buttery harmonies and kitschy but distorted sound effects.
The lyrics talk about electricity, chicken, robots, earthquakes and bees, artificial body-parts, people sitting in the dark, but also spacetravel, how you get by with poor eyesight or about the painter Nina Hamnett.
In March 2020 appeared their first album called Chicken Permit on the label Plag Dich Nicht, Vienna recorded at the Visconti Studios in London and with Chris Janka Industries in Vienna.
